BRUGES De Karmeliet

Bruges: De Karmeliet

One of Belgium’s premiere restaurants, De Karmeliet has earned chef Geert Van Hecke three Michelin stars and a reputation to match. Located in the heart of historic Bruges in a typical 18th century house, Restaurant de Karmeliet has a warm and friendly interior, enlivened by a collection of eclectic modern artworks and sculptures.

However, the food’s the real star here and it makes the perfect destination for a celebratory lunch. Van Hecke cooks with real gusto and the pleasure he takes from his native Flemish cuisine is evident on every plate that emerges from his kitchen.

There are a number of intriguing set menus to choose from including Brugge de Scone, offering for example dover sole with Zebrugge

shrimps or fillet of venison with autumn vegetables, or Le Plat Pays, which features wild duck, baked scallops and veal cheek. And of course, you could choose from the spectacular a la carte menu, rich in game and seafood.

For those who would prefer to sample Van Hecke’s mastery for dinner, we can recommend a night in the elegant Hotel de Tuilerieen, just a few minutes walk away.

Guide price: £1,349 per person based on a day return for four people flying by Citation Mustang from Stansted and including the Brugge de Scone Menu. Other departure airports and durations are available. Please contact us for details.
