Congratulations to Lindsey Russell, our 2025 Jefferson’s North Kansas City Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Russell teaches Special Education at Bell Prairie Elementary School.
A nominator shared with us what makes Mrs. Russell such an incredible teacher: “Lindsey works with students on the autism spectrum, and she has a remarkable heart. She arrives each day with a smile, dedicating herself to helping these students learn and grow. With unwavering commitment, she ensures they feel accepted and continuously advocates for their needs. Through her empathy and compassion, Lindsey has set an inspiring example for our entire school.”
Mrs. Russell also shared one of the moments she’s loved most from her teaching career: “One of my most cherished teaching memories is having my students be a part of my wedding day—not just as guests, but with special jobs to do! Each of them had a role, from handing out programs to walking down the aisle, and they took their responsibilities so seriously (and joyfully!). It was incredibly heartwarming to see the pride on their faces and the love they brought to the day. Sharing that moment with them reminded me that teaching is so much more than academics—it’s about building a community, celebrating milestones together, and creating memories that last a lifetime. They made my wedding day absolutely magical.”
