Jefferson’s of Rome is pleased to announce that Mistie Blair has been named Jefferson’s 2026 Rome Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Blair teaches K-4 special education at Alto Park Elementary School, and has been teaching for five years.
Mrs. Blair was chosen from a highly competitive pool of nominations submitted by students and community members. The contest, launched in honor of National Teachers’ Day on May 5, aims to recognize one of Rome’s many deserving educators. Jefferson’s selected Mrs. Blair as the Rome Teacher of the Year for her thoughtfulness and wholehearted approach.
“Mrs. Blair’s nominators spoke of her dedication toward improving her students’ lives,” said Wayne Mullinax, franchisee/owner. “Her students are always happy to see her, and she’s created an individualized approach that keeps each of her students feeling safe and confident. Mrs. Blair embodies everything our communities value in their teachers and leaders, and we’re honored to recognize her for her dedication to the Rome community.”
Blair will receive a $500 gift card to Jefferson’s, and her achievement will be commemorated on the “Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year” plaque at the Rome restaurant.
“I love being a teacher,” said Mrs. Blair in a statement. “I have the best class with little ones who are full of personality and spunk. I get the opportunity to watch them grow and learn new things everyday. I love being able to celebrate large and small victories because all growth is wonderful. There is never a dull moment in the classroom, making everyday an adventure.”
Last year was the launch of the Teacher of the Year program, with Amy Reyes, teacher at West End Elementary School, selected as Rome’s 2025 Teacher of the Year.
This year is the sophomore run for the Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year award, launched as a companion program to Jefferson’s Coach of the Year award, which runs in the fall. The teachers’ initiative is open to teachers working with students of any age, and candidates could be nominated by students, parents and guardians of students, school officials, or other community members.
