Congratulations to Jessica Barger, our 2025 Jefferson’s Lenexa Teacher of the Year!

Jessica teaches Math at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.

We consider ourselves lucky that she chooses to sit here teaching us rather than going off to win a Nobel prize in astrophysics or something like that!”
• “She is the best person to ask for help about anything. During free study periods she has a line of students that she always takes the time to help. Overall she goes above and beyond to help every student through her patience and love for math and teaching.”
• “One of the first classes I had with Mrs. Barger was particularly difficult and the class was complaining about it. She proceeded to tell us about how much she loved math so much that in high school and college she’d look up and do complex problems just for fun. It inspired us to keep working hard because we could see the subject brought her joy.”
