Congratulations to Briana Carmon, our 2026 Jefferson’s Summerville Teacher of the Year!

Briana teaches Agriculture at Summerville Middle School.

We can’t think of a better way to tell you what makes her an incredible teacher than by sharing directly from her nominators:

“Briana always goes out of her way to make her students feel welcome. She works long hours after school with practices and putting shows together making sure that her team has the best they need. Since I’ve known Briana she’s never turned a child away she’s always helped in any way she can. Her classes love her and enjoy learning about the agriculture business she’s never had an empty classroom even after school she’s always has students still eager to learn.”

Briana shared, “Being a teacher is so rewarding. I don’t mean rewarding as in helping students pass tests, but by getting students to learn real world skills and helping them navigate situations that they will inevitably encounter in life. Agriculture education isn’t only learning about cows and planting crops, but it teaches life skills such as leadership, communication, and how to be self-sufficient by providing many different hands-on activities and leadership opportunities through FFA.”
