Jefferson’s Hampton Cove announces 2025 Teacher of the Year!

Jun 10, 2025 | Community & Partnerships

Jefferson’s of Hampton Cove is pleased to announce that Briana Butler has been named the first-ever Jefferson’s Hampton Cove Teacher of the Year! Butler teaches at Hampton Cove Middle, and has been an educator in both Tennessee and Alabama over the last 18 years. She has taught across a spectrum of ages and subjects, ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade and everything from math to language arts.

Butler was chosen from a highly competitive pool of nominations submitted by students and community members. The contest, launched in honor of National Teachers’ Day–today, May 6–aims to recognize one of Huntsville’s many deserving educators. Jefferson’s selected Butler as the Hampton Cove Teacher of the Year for her deep desire–and follow-through–to see her students succeed academically and personally.

“Butler’s nominators spoke of her positive attitude and ability to motivate and engage her students,” said co-owner/franchisee Jake Lund. “She cares for her students like they’re her own. She shows up to their sporting events, runs a homework hotline, and directs a readiness program for the entire school. To have her as a teacher is to know that someone is fighting for your wellbeing and success. We’re honored to recognize Briana Butler for her dedication and contribution to the Hampton Cove community.”

Butler will receive a $500 gift card to Jefferson’s, and her achievement will be commemorated with a “Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year” plaque for all restaurant patrons to see.

I love working with my students and growing them academically,” Butler said in a statement. “I love being around their happy energy and engaging attitudes, and I really enjoy being part of this Hampton Cove community. I am proud to work with great educational leaders, teachers, students and their families. Thank you, Jefferson’s, for acknowledging us and working to better our communities!”

This year is the pilot run for the Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year award, launched as a sister program to Jefferson’s Coach of the Year award, which runs in the fall. The teachers’ initiative was open to teachers working with students of any age, and candidates could be nominated by students, parents and guardians of students, school officials, or other community members.
