Jefferson’s of Lenexa is pleased to announce that Ken Glaser has been named Jefferson’s Lenexa Coach of the Year. Glaser coaches basketball at Lansing High School, and has coached many basketball teams in the Kansas City area over his 30-year career, including Blue Valley schools, De Soto High School, Olathe Northwest, and Jayhawk Linn High School.
Coach Glaser was chosen from a highly competitive pool of nominations submitted by athletes and community members. The contest, launched in honor of National Coach’s Day on Oct. 6, serves to recognize one of the area’s many deserving coaches. Jefferson’s selected Glaser as the Lenexa Coach of the Year for his supportive, player-first approach to coaching.
“Coach Glaser’s nominators spoke of his focus on sportsmanship and his ability to bring out a good attitude in every player,” said franchisee Nick Price. “He’s passionate, heartfelt, and committed to teaching his athletes both on and off the court. His impact goes well beyond his players’ time on his team, with many of his former athletes staying in touch long after graduation. We’re honored to recognize him for his many years of serving many communities in the Kansas City area.”
Glaser will receive a $500 gift card to Jefferson’s, and his achievement will be commemorated with a “Jefferson’s Coach of the Year” plaque that will be displayed in the Lenexa Jefferson’s.
Last year was the launch of the Coach of the Year program, with Patrick Riordan, cross country coach for the Holy Trinity Mustangs, selected as the first-ever Lenexa Coach of the Year.Â
The Jefferson’s Coach of the Year award was open to coaches of any sport working with athletes of any age. Coaches could be nominated by athletes, parents and guardians of athletes, school officials, or other community members.Â
