We’re proud to recognize Tony Choat as our 2025 Jefferson’s Rome Coach of the Year!

Coach Choat’s nominator shared, “One thing that sets Tony apart is how he never lets a player feel left behind. I’ll never forget a night after a tough loss when most coaches would have just gone home—Tony stayed in the gym with a few of the kids, talking them through what went wrong and reminding them how much they’d grown. He has this habit of pointing out every small improvement, whether it’s a better pass or stronger defense, and that encouragement keeps the kids motivated. His positivity, patience and belief in his players make him more than just a coach—he’s a role model.”

Every year, in honor of National Coaches’ Day, Jefferson’s Rome recognizes a coach who goes above and beyond for their athletes and their community. These coaches have made an impact on their players’ lives on and off the field and have been nominated by school and community members.

Congratulations to Amy Reyes, our 2025 Jefferson’s Rome Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Reyes teaches third grade at West End Elementary School. She has been teaching for four years.

Ms. Reyes’ nominators spoke of her energy, care, and her constant readiness to share her own resources to make sure no student goes without. Here are some of our favorite stories shared by Ms. Reyes’ nominators:

• Ms. Reyes took charge of Hispanic History Month for West End Elementary. By sharing her own heritage, she encouraged others to do the same and shone light on the significance of one’s background.
• Every year, her class watches the Polar Express at school. Ms. Reyes provides a themed treat by bringing Starbucks cups of hot chocolate for every student.
• Ms. Reyes dresses up in elaborate costumes to engage her students–like wearing a Cat in the Hat suit for Read Across America.
